providing meaningful experiences that give children the best possible outcomes for learning.
Our program is created and facilitated by Educators based on the principles that children are confident and involved learners, and that each child develops at their own pace. We recognise that children are influenced and learn through their relationships, interactions, and the world around them.
Our program allows for flexibility and individuality and also fosters relationships, social interactions and development. We have a large variety or planned activities as well as plenty of opportunities for spontaneous play and decision making. We offer meaningful experiences that give children the best possible outcomes for learning.
At the core of our program is the Learning Framework for School Age Care, My Time, Our Place. The Framework emphasises that school age children collaborate with Educators to plan and provide play and leisure opportunities that are meaningful to children and support their wellbeing, learning and development.
Our programming decisions are influenced by the Framework for School Age Care, which is a key component of the National Quality Framework.
The Framework aims to achieve these five overall Learning Outcomes:
Children have a strong sense of identity
Children are connected with and contribute to their world
Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
Children are confident and involved learners
Children are effective communicators

In order to keep our families up to date with all the fun we’re having at ROOSH, we utilise OWNA– an application that expands our documentation abilities and directly links children’s experiences at OOSH to your personal devices. OWNA allows us to provide a private form of documentation where we are able to upload real time updates, photos and information that can only be shared with invited ROOSH families.
Sustainability is an important part of the Framework for School Age Care. The education around sustainability is embedded in our Before, After and Vacation Care programs and also our daily routines.
Children are able to actively contribute to these practices with participation in caring for the school chickens, vegetable garden, recycling programs and ensuring that the everyday items that we use are eco-friendly.

To ensure the children are receiving healthy and nutritious meals at Randwick, we rely on our amazing cook Anna. Not only do we ensure our chef has relevant training to ensure dietary guidelines are being met, but a range of our management staff are also involved.
Our menus are planned weekly in collaboration with the children, families and staff and always include a diverse range of dishes. Our menus cater for individual requirements such as allergies, medical conditions and cultural considerations.

Educating children about charity work and giving back is rewarding for everyone involved. The Educators at Randwick OOSH put endless amounts of effort to ensuring that children have plenty of opportunities to feel empowered by giving back through our programming. We recognise the importance of connecting children to their community and wider society and encouraging them to make valuable contributions.
Each Vacation Care, you will find a day dedicated to raising awareness and funds for charities that are close our OOSH community’s heart. Over the years we have proudly supported organisations such as Jeans for Genes, Barnardos Australia, Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, Salvation Army, Bear Cottage, Miracle Babies Foundation, Women’s Cancers, World Wide Nature Fund, Red Cross and many more. You can find some certificates from these fundraising events in our Lounge Room.
We are also proud supporters of the Save the Children Foundation and have been sponsoring two children, Sohan and Christine, since 2014. The children at Randwick are able to get involved by writing letters, sending birthday cards and learning about their lives on the other side of the world.
We are strong advocates for children’s rights and promote the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child. The UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child are non-negotiable standards and obligations founded on respect for the dignity and worth of each child, regardless of race, colour, gender, language, religion opinions, origin, wealth, birth status or ability. We embed these rights at our service through our relationships with children, curriculum & programming, documentation, resources and through regular discussion and reflection with children.

We believe that excursions are a fantastic opportunity for children to connect to their community and authentically participate. By taking children out of the centre and immersing them into our community, they are able to experience and benefit from a new learning environment, in a hands on, interest driven way – which in turn spikes enthusiasm to participate, get involved and contribute in meaningful ways.
